"Utah is proud to select Teddy Stiga"... WHAAA?! I honestly thought they took him because of commodity value.
Crypes... I think if I were picking Mukhamadullin or Simishev, I'd take Mook. I guess they hope Simishev eats extremely important minutes.
Nabokov is extremely intriguing. You just wonder with Lou... he likes winners, and George winning both Hlinka Gretz and U18 is gonna catch his eye. But maybe he sees Nabokov winning Gagarin and says he wants that instead. The other two guys you named have a lot more to prove (playing in important games). Or maybe at this point, he's checked out, and his scout will just pick a guy like Sennecke.</div></div>
If Nabokov was 2” taller he would be top 10 but being 5’11/6’ as a goalie has become a death sentence in NHL scouting apparently. Personally think the sharks having another Nabokov in net would be awesome!
And you can’t ignor his stats in the KHL or from the (albeit limited) scouting we have available

I like Bernard Docker for San Jose but Korpisalo is a hard one! He was sooo good with LA and has potential till but sharks D is worse than Ottawa and he could end up being Campbell level bad for us

I hope so! He’s the only goalie with starter caliber potential (right now) in this draft. And I’d love the sharks to snag him in the 3rd

But yea if Dickenson is there sharks gladly take him even though LD isn’t their biggest need.

Sharks draft and offseason
I would ask for a 2nd for taking on Pageau (Vancouver pick so we can grab Carter George G would be nice)
Agree on the draft thoughts. Think Elick goes way earlier honestly though.
I am targeting Badinka RD and Pulkkinen LD in the 2nd round! Love that size and both skate well and have some offensive upside but likely would be more defensive if they make the NHL

Big raw but talented forward who needs a lot of time to develop but once he is there he could be a steal of a pick!

Have to agree! This is where I want the sharks to go with there 2 picks! The forward group would have a lot of very good pieces now and the rest of the draft and next year sharks can focus heavily on D and goalies.

Agreed this deal was a bad idea and will end much like Matt Murray’s deal did. If he was around 3-3.5 for 2 years a 4th wouldn’t be bad but at this cap and term it will likely cost to move him unless he has a rebound year.

SJ 2024 Sign 2 Top 4 RDmen Trade with NYI for Lee Sign Henrique to a 1yr Deal
Islanders are likely not paying to move Lee, feel like they will to move Pageau though.
Pesce or Roy not likely both!
Henrique on a 1-2 year deal would be a great insurance policy for Couture
I like Carpenter as a near min guy who can bounce back and forth AHL/NHL but think he showed enough last year to get that kind of deal but I have to wonder if Bailey might be a better fit for us with his size and speed and what he showed last season.

I get the thought on Hutson because of how his brother blew up, but that’s just too much risk at 14 especially with much better prospects still there. Yes D is a need but reaching for picks is how you end up with busts.

Marner Waives To San Jose
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>I think getting the 1st overall pick was a game changer for San Jose and should open the door for big trades. Getting Celebrini a star like Marner to play with would be invaluable for his development.
And the pieces involved in this deal, apart from Musty, are really not that valuable in the long run. Edstrom projects to be a 3C, the Vegas 1st will be late, and Ferraro has his highest value right now so it'll be smart to trade him.</div></div>
Like I said the value is fair, but the whole reason you’re dumping Marner is the exact reason I think Grier passes.
While talented and amazing in the regular season he disappears in the playoffs and plays soft. Not qualities Grier is looking for.
And I feel the Vegas pick will be higher than you think, they are up against the cap older players with injury history and barely made the playoffs this year, think they have potential to wind up just outside the playoffs next year.

Kind of my thought as well! Unless you guys grab Levshunov and want to make space, even then not likely but I get the idea here.
Sharks only do that deal if they have a starter lined up in FA or via another trade and bury Campbell for the duration of his deal

Here is the deal, the trade is very reasonable for Marner.
But this isn’t smart for the sharks.
I’m not hating on your deal but in a rebuild giving up 2 recent 1st round picks, a 1st rounder next year and a top 4 D is a lot to give up.
This would be great for Toronto but in my eyes sets the rebuild back a step.
